Land Use Bylaw
Land use bylaw amendments passed
Mountain View County council approved amendments to the Land Use Bylaw 10/10 at its regular council meeting on Jan. 18, 2012.
The amendments, in the form of Bylaw 11/11, were the result of a process started last year to reduce repetition, tighten language and make the document more user-friendly for landowners contemplating development.
According to the presentation by the Planning and Development Department to council on the date of adoption, the reason behind the amendments was not to change the intent of the bylaw but to provide clarity.
Among the provisions clarified in the amended Bylaw were those pertaining to RV Storage businesses on lands zoned for agriculture; the process for communication tower placement and the rules regarding home occupation businesses.
The revised Bylaw No. 11/11, the Land Use Bylaw is now in effect. The approved version of the Land Use Bylaw is available at the County Office, and online.
